Breaking off the spirit of indecision

Ever struggle with making decisions for fear of making the wrong one? Or feel torn between two good things? Well, let me be the first to say I was the actual queen of indecision. This area has not only held me captive, but I have also brought others into the captivity with me. Instead of listening to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, I would seek the opinions of others. I’d listen to sermons and read books desperately in search for some type of “sign” and direction. Yet it only left me more confused. I thought I was doing good by seeking advice, but really I was suppressing the voice of God in my life. I didn’t like that God gave us freedom of choice. Why couldn’t He just tell me what to do? After all, He’s God.

I was powerless. I was double-minded. I was Confused. Sound familiar?

That’s when I realized this was much more than a “personality trait.” Because it doesn’t matter what personality tests say, God has not given us the spirit of confusion. So how did I overcome this?

I repented of partnering with the lie that “This is just who I am” and I started to declare out loud over my life day and night

“I am a powerful person.”

“I hear the voice of God”

“I have clarity of mind”

“I will walk in the way of peace”

And I paid close attention to what my spirit was feeling. Because more often than not, we already know the decision we need to make. It may not be clear, but at some point, we just have to start walking in a direction and following in the way of peace. Because as we walk and invite the Holy Spirit into our decisions, He will make our path clear. Although I believe God at times calls us into wilderness seasons, I think we often lead ourselves into them. I’d rather be in a wilderness with the peace of God than walking through one on my own. Don’t be afraid of where God is leading you, because wherever it is, even if it costs you something, there will be peace carrying you all the way to the end.

And as far as what to do in the waiting? Continue to declare those truths over your life.

You are powerful.

You hear the voice of God.

You have clarity of mind.

You will walk in the way of peace.
