It was a simple Sunday morning. There were no fancy lights. Just an acoustic set led my some of my dearest friends. During this set, I was so undone by the love of Jesus and the hope that was filling my heart that I had to just sat back. Legs crossed. Eyes filled with wonder. It was as if He took me back to that childlikeness that sits in church, drawing on a piece of paper, not feeling any need to strive or perform in God’s presence. I felt him prompting me to take out my phone and start to write and I wanted to share this because although this was just a simple moment, it marked this season for me and is why I am doing this blog series.

“Around the holidays their is pressure to be distracted with the hustle and bustle, but if you can get past all of that and stay rooted. I have so many precious gifts for you. There’s an outpouring of joy and love and celebration around this time of the year that was meant to fill your soul and not distract. If you lean into it, I want to make this a season of abundance for you. Where love is in every detail and you are so overcome you can’t help but spill over. So let this be a season of rest and adventure and creativity and connection. Let me show you how to live a life so beautiful that it’s so attractive to the world and points them to me.”

There’s something special about this time of year that I don’t want to miss. And I don’t want you to miss either. That’s why I’m going to do a 5-day blog series to prepare our hearts to press into the beauty this time of year brings. My heart is that you would find joy through simplicity this holiday season. That your eyes would be open to the hidden mysteries of the time of the year. That you would be like a child, living wide eyes filled overflowing with an abundance of JOY. Comparison, business, and materialism has a way of taking away the rest, adventure, creativity, connection, and community that Jesus wants for you this December.

With that being said, I have some exciting news!!!!

If you know me, you know I love giving gifts. It’s my favorite thing! And I wanted to share a gift with YOU! So I’m going to be giving away some of my favorite things that tie into what this holiday series is all about. Gifts that keep giving. I thought through each one and wanted it to be something you can enjoy with a friend.

Here’s what’s included:

  1. The greatest gift Advent book by Ann Voskamp

  2. Coffee mug with the word “Gather”

  3. Chocolate Chips

  4. Starbucks gift card

  5. Coffee Beans

And here’s my challenge for you this season. Take this book and read through it with your family/friend/spouse. Let this mug be a reminder to “Gather” this holiday season. Life is so much sweeter surrounded by people. So let’s not fall into the business trap and getting things crossed off our list that we forget what’s most important. And those chocolate chips? Turn up the holiday music (mistletoe by Justin Bieber bc what else would you listen to this time of year?) and bake somebody some cookies! For the gift card, take this a treat someone to coffee with you. And finally, coffee beans. My favorite favorite thing to do is wake up each morning, make a good cup of coffee and start my day sitting still with Jesus. Let this be a reminder to slow down and make him first this holiday season!
